30-3

-
A couple of nights ago, the Texas Rangers set a modern era record for most runs scored by one team in a game by posting 30 runs on the Baltimore Orioles. Ouch.

They were really trying not to score for the last several of those, too. It was pretty bad.

had a great phone interview with the Baseball Tonight crew about the game. I looked all over youtube, but couldn't find it at first. However, my friend, Daniel, has found it and provided it on his blog. So, I'm totally leeching it now and providing it here.

A Trip to East Texas

-
Yesterday, Eric and I went out to his in East Texas.

It was just Eric, his son, Mathew, and myself.

We took pictures on the way...

We stopped at the on the way out there.

Bales of Hay were everywhere.

Hey, look! A painted cow!

Ah, historic .

Doesn't this look like an old ?

The open fields were gorgeous.

Some goats...

The open sky was gorgeous. Kept making me think about what life must of been on the range...

This is supposed to be a road.

It lead to this gate.

This was half of our objective: Eric's deer blind.

There were insects everywhere... This one appeared to be a grasshopper.

This scary looking spider was on a branch about half a foot from the deer blind.

A cool looking dragon fly.

The grasshopper had sibblings all over...

The other half of our objective: Eric's deer feeder.

We had to fix it...

and test it...

They were still cutting the hay in this field.

We mounted the now working feeder control box.

We filled up the feeder, and before we could even test it, we found this spider in the process of making a home on the underside of the feeder. Eric removed it with a stick...

After the spider was gone, we were able to test the feeder. It had a pretty good spread.

This is picture 1 of a pretty cool pair of pictures of the scary looking spider and the cool looking dragon fly back at the deer blind.

This is picture 2 of a pretty cool pair of pictures of the scary looking spider and the cool looking dragon fly back at the deer blind.

We pulled over the deer blind to move it. Out sprang a whole munch of hornets!!! doh! This might have been their nest...but we weren't getting close enough to find out. This pretty much cut short our plans to modify it.

This is the feed setup of one of Eric's buddys who is also on the lease.

This is an old hog trap that was there when they first started leasing the property.

This pond was dry the last time I was here.

One of Eric's friends has a solar powered deer feeder.

We think that the neighbors set this up to hunt on this land.

Eric's friend's deer blind.

This is a cool looking gate.

The ugliest car in the world??

This was an interesting sign someone had along the highway.

Some cows under a tree.

Galactica Pretty Much Rocks

-
I convinced Lilly several months ago to watch the new Battlestar Galactica with me. Since then, we've been slowly (when we've had time) catching up. Last night, we watched the last episode of season 3. We're both ready to watch the next episode now, but we'll have to wait until the 2 hour special in November. Doh!

In the meantime, I found a rather amusing music video on YouTube.com. It's kind of a tribute to both the old and the new versions of Galactica.

I hope you are able to enjoy!

"And then what? What would you do if we really just left you here? You'd live out your lives in peace and never trouble yourselves with thoughts of us again? Or would you raise your children with stories of the Cylon, the mechanical slaves who once did your bidding, only to turn against you? Killers who committed genocide against your race, the occupiers of this city until we just ran away? Would you tell them to tell the story to their children, and to their childrens' children, and nurse a dream of vengeance down through the years so that one day they could just go out into the stars and hunt the Cylon once more?"

*** Update *** A Break In Attempt?

-
I went and talked to management today about our discovered incident. They said they would look into getting the lights fixed (they'd better!), and they also offered to check our door. When I came home, there was this:

Now, if only they'll boost the patrols and turn up the lighting, we'll be looking at a slightly better situation.

A Break In Attempt?

-

It may not look like much, but the evidence is real: Someone tried to break in to our apartment. We called Smith, and made a report. I'm going to go talk to office in a couple of minutes to see about getting better lighting, etc. out here. In the meantime, we're a little freaked out about the possibility of coming home and finding all or some of our stuff gone. Even worse, what if one or both of us was here!? What if someone stole Rajah!?!

We're planning now to investigate moving somewhere else at the end of our lease. Unless this place does some major security upgrading. Apparently just Smith is not enough...

O righteous God,
who searches minds and hearts,
bring to an end the violence of the wicked
and make the righteous secure.

My shield is God Most High,
who saves the upright in heart.
